Dark, glass-clinging purple. Inviting nose of black currant, blueberry compote, and ashy blackberry. Full-bodied palate echoes the nose with firm, fuzzy (medium plus) tannins that go velvety with time (just like I like it). Add in the medium acidity and it’s a great midweek steak wine. Drink now through 2024.

At first drink, needs more time to open up.. Given 30 minutes but needs more. Blueberry compote and vanilla on the nose, smells hot though. On the palate it was a bit medicinal. Half hour later, the nose has softened substantially with brambly fruit, a touch of spice, sweet cherry, and black licorice - not unlike a Spanish garnacha actually. Mouth filling sweet fruit and mouth coating tannins. Dried plums, blackberries, and mincemeat interestingly enough. Quite nice once it settled down, but I think the alcohol is a bit overdone still unfortunately. Day 2 has a lush sweetness, but still underwhelming for the price.

Inky dark in color to the point that it is opaque. Fruit forward with cherry, molasses, cassis, and oak on the palate. Jammy and chewy with a moderate acid finish. Nothing subtle here.

Total Wine - $25 - recommended by salesperson. Very fruity, light and smooth. 15.5% abv. Nice wine but, prefer Silver Palm more. Probably won't buy again.
