Last bottle of 2007. Somewhat disappointing with plum jam, allspice, cloves and toasty oak, finishing with very ripe fruit flavors, but not much drive, nor complexity.

This was a good decision. Cork was dry and broke up but after filtering and decanting there were great ageing Cabernet aromas right from the outset. Initially some raisiny flavours masking the fruit and depth but after an hour this was top notch. Loads of dark fruit and baking spice with oak and lavender. The palate is strong but smooth and a delicate floral note appeared after a time. Nicely mature and well worth tasting if you find a bottle from this vintage.

Deep, lush black currant and blackberry fruit accented by savory notes of sage and dried pipe tobacco. A sweeter suggestion of boysenberry develops with air. On the finish, densely packed tannins offer ample structure on which the rich fruit glides slowly to a close. This was exceptional from initial opening through the end of the bottle, 3 hours later.

In honor of game 6, I am opening this bottle from @David A Lentine to help an anxious cubs fan get through the next couple of hours. Thanks to @LM Segal for the decant time heads up to align with game time. I am an hour in and going to let it sit a bit more to soften. @Paul T brought the big guns with Kershaw, but the cubs have too many sticks. Thanks for bolting to Orlando @Daryl Calhoun - no invite?!? #iaintafraidofnogoat Thanks again @David A Lentine for sharing this one. TN Update - working on 3 hours decanted and it is starting to shine. Soft on the palette with black cherries, strong raspberries, and vanilla. I have to add very juicy - haven't had something with this mouthwatering effect before. On the nose raspberry and flower box come through on this ruby gem.
