Les Frères Perroud
Améthyste Brouilly Gamay

A beautiful brilliant magenta color with exuberant plum, raspberry, black cherry, and pretty floral aromas with a bit of smokiness. The palate is silky, medium-bodied, fresh, and balanced with just enough tannins to add structure with alluring raspberry, red plum, and hints of strawberry and spice with a very giving finish. Ready to drink now, but should age well over the next 2-5 years. 12.5% abv

Wow, another great vintage, and so inexpensive. I last had the 2016. This 2019 was not candy grape but more … synesthetically velvet.

Nose: stone, earth, musty-yeastiness. Unripe pomegranate. Light wood. Taste: nice acidity, bright but smooth. Unripe pomegranate again. I don’t like lighter wine but this isn’t bad! 89.

I actually was avoiding drinking this because the cheesy drawing made my mind associate it with cheapness. I’m glad I waited a for few years and a good pizza night. It’s a bit more deep purple candy grapes than others, which I love. Not too strong on any side.
