Hot damn. This is a sexy beast. Emphasis on the beast- this ain't your grandma's merlot. This is showing tons of vanilla-tobacco, ripe and dried cherry/plum, tea leaf, a definite mineral earthy dusty character reminiscent of an Italian super Tuscan. Bramble and sachet notes linger in the background. Palate just takes it home, driven by great acidity. No disrespect to Pahlmeyer, but hands down best domestic Merlot I've had.

Sweet but tangy at the same time. It's intense and definitely not the typical Merlot. Exploded in your mouth with blackberry and dark chocolate. I would recommend to air it out for at least few hours before drinking.

Don't have straight Merlot often but this was excellent. Heavy weighted but not flabby. Black fruits, plums maybe.
