My last bottle of the 2010 Art Series Chardonnay. See previous Delectable note. An excellent generously constructed Chardonnay. A few years on has lost a little vigour for little added complexity. My previous bottle was at its peak. This bottle was good but needed to be drunk. It would develop flabbiness in the future I feel. Still peaches and cream with M intensity and M- acidity.

All prior notes apply. This is a terrific Art Series Chardonnay which ticks all the boxes. A great match with Mooloolaba prawns on New Year’s Eve. Artwork by aboriginal artist, Yukultji Napangati. Here’s to a better 2021.

Mid Lemon in colour. Stone fruits on nose and palate. The big peaches and cream style. A typical delicious Leeuwin Art Series palate of profound intensity with Oak playing a supporting role to the abundant ripe fruits. Medium minus acid. A big generous Art Series Chardonnay which went well with fresh prawns. I think I would need to drink the remaining 3 in the next 18 months. Had another bottle with friends for lunch 9 weeks later on 16th November. All agreed this was the white wine of the day marginally from the 1998 Lovedale.

This has registered as the 2010 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay but this was one of a fabulous lineup of Wine we had today with friends as you can see in the photo I will cover the others in later notes. The Leeuwin Chardonnay lived up to its billing as our best Of this varietal. Peaches and cream with enough acid to make it lively. Having said that in this lineup the Felton Road Chardonnay was stunning.

Wines as this male me homesick & remind me of the immense potential of Australian chardonnay : brilliant straw, white flowers, Bosch pear, white peach w hazlenut brioche. Medium weight palate w flawless texture nougat, fine milled oatmeal weight (yes weird I know) w terrific length and years of potential ahead. Screwcap sealed
