Leave it to Oregon to give me a Cabernet Franc I’d call lifted.

Quite possibly the best example of Oregon Cabernet Franc I've ever tasted. Ruby robed with violet reflexes, Leah Jørgensen's Cabernet franc captivates the senses with aromas of mulberries, marionberries, incense, and anise. In the mouth it's velvety and supple with cashmere-like tannins lending support to a red-fruited core. White pepper and hibiscus tea at the close. 14.5% ABV, though you'd never know it. Sample

Medium ruby color with red berry, red plum, tomato leaf, and floral aromas. On the palate it's medium-bodied fresh and well balanced with well integrated firm tannins with a "Old World" character. It show flavors of raspberry compote, sour cherry, black tea, a bit of red pepper and spice with a lingering spicy finish. #CabFrancDay #CabFranc

Deep ruby hue. Noticeable tearing and extraction. Nose offers intense, round red and black fruit aromas such as black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, plum, and spices such as anise, molasses, nutmeg, with a strong floral undercurrent and delicate peat moss, tobacco, and leather notes. Palate is largely consistent with the nose, offering a medium body, medium tannins, medium+ acidity, and tart but flavorful impact with that hint of spiciness. Definitely worth a breathe after opening to let the intense flavors integrate and settle a bit. Medium finish. Interesting new world take in Cabernet Franc (100%) from Southern Oregon. Vintage 2018. ABV 14%.

I imagine this may pair well with grilled brats or burgers or pork chops where the fruitiness is a contrasting complement to the savory dish and the smokiness lends some symmetry with similarly intense flavors. Thoughts 💭?

Had this at a local Portland restaurant with various cured meat pairings. Delicious!
