Purple flowers. Dense violet and rose petal perfume. Elegant; some spice and nailpolish. A touch volatile which, while it is light and works in this elegant style, detracts from the overall drinking experience.

Aug 25th, 2022What a smokeshow this wine is. Old school as it gets. Nose is all chestnut. In its glorious most primal form. Then comes the cardamon and clove spices. Cracked nuts. Tar, leather. Mad tobacco. It’s so crazy. I love these wines. Fiercely traditional. No fucks given. If Tarkovsky made wine. Palate is gorgeous and the essence of 14. Linear and nervy. Great acids and freshness and the that linearity is something. A gorgeous, tight core of cherry fruit. Just so good. So long. This has 20+ years to go but as epic as anything. Finish is still going. Takes over your mouth. This is so great. Better in 3 hours and ten years. But man what a thrilling, uncompromising absolutely delicious bottle of ancient style Barbaresco but made super clean with elite freshness.

Stunning nose. Spellbinding cherry, licorice, roses, amazing tar, chestnut, wow. Just ridiculous aromas out of the gates. Amazing depth and no hard edges on the aromas. And these usually take 3 hours to get going. It’s like smelling velvet. With just the most vivid cherries. Very very impressive. Haunting. Layered. A 9.7 nose. Wow, what fruit! Just incredible. Dense, layered and so so pure. This just smokes any other 14 I’ve ever had. So refined for a big wine. Unreal fruit and the freshness is remarkable. Insane inner mouth aromas. The clarity here is outrageous! Complex, structured and so juicy. A baby, like a serious baby but this is epic epic Barbaresco. Wow that finish.
After 2-3 hours of air this gets that Giacosa perfectly ethereal strawberry rhubarb cherry delicate scent that is the thing you search for in elite Barbaresco.

Very nice barbaresco. Decanted 3+ hours. Have another bottle which I won’t try for at least 5 years, but this was quite accessible with the decant today. Wonderful nose - so classic. On the palate the wine tasting like cherry infused dirt - not in a bad way, but a real thing. Finish was long with excellent acid. Nice pairing with pork chops.
