2003 Le Macchiole IGT Toscana (Bolgheri) - nose of red stone fruits, burnt orange peel and lavender. Palate brings sour cherry, black tea and licorice along with bitter, grippy tannins. A bit austere at first even with considerable bottle age, this wine needs a lot of air in order to show off its elegance. 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc.
