Le Macchiole

Le Macchiole

Bolgheri Rosso SuperTuscan Blend 2017

This is a very punchy, rich wine, likely a blend of Sangiovese with some bordeaux cépages like Cabernet. Actually works very well with rich food and has enough acidity and balance. Not our prime stuff in style but honestly was really good. — 3 days ago

Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso blend always over delivers for the price.
Merlot, Cab Franc, Cab Sauvignon and sometimes Syrah added to the blend.
Absolutely a favourite wine.

I guessed right for the Cabs then. I agree at these price points there is not much at this quality ! Do recommend any other of their wines ? Thank you Jamie !

Bianco is Chardonnay with a touch of Sauvignon Blanc.
Scrio is Syrah….very tasty.
And Paleo is Cabernet Franc.
All are age worthy and will reward your patience..

Italian Syrah. Really impressed at how good the 06 is. — 11 years ago

Le Macchiole

Paleo Bolgheri Cabernet Franc 2007

Smoke, oak, toast, grilled herbs and vegetables. After an hour or so, black fruit emerges. But the tannines are still quite obtrusive. — 6 months ago

Duemani

Toscana IGT Cabernet Franc 2005

This is as great Tuscany can get - 100% Cabernet Franc, with beautiful fruit, very dark appearance, dark cherry, herb and chocolate flavours. Duemani refers to the two hands of Luca d’Attoma, oenologist also known from Tua Rita and Le Macchiole, two other great Tuscany estates. Prices have almost doubled since 2005, but this wine is worth it! — 3 years ago

Saffredi Maremma Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2012

I finally had my first taste of this small, often lauded, producer of super Tuscan wines. I liked it, on the darker side it reminded me in style of Le Macchiole. — 9 years ago

Toscana IGT SuperTuscan Blend 2003

Palmer Emmitt
8.9

2003 Le Macchiole IGT Toscana (Bolgheri) - nose of red stone fruits, burnt orange peel and lavender. Palate brings sour cherry, black tea and licorice along with bitter, grippy tannins. A bit austere at first even with considerable bottle age, this wine needs a lot of air in order to show off its elegance. 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. — 12 years ago
