Le Grand Cros
L'esprit de Provence Rosé Blend
Another favorite to emerge from the crop, or is it gaggle? of 2015 Provençal pinks I've been working my way through. The Le Grand Cros Côtes de Provence l'Esprit de Provence is elegant and conch shell pink with layers of ripe peach, melon and honeysuckle submerged under edgier mineral notes that are readily communicated in both the nose and palate. It's very lean, taught—a mix of pink grapefruit rind and sea foam that demands a food pairing. For me this is quintessential Provence and beautifully proportioned too. 14% ABV | Sample

Apr 8th, 2017It's a white blend, not the rosé. Excellent dry, long finish. Sunshine in a bottle.

Oct 3rd, 20152014 vintage. Fresh berry fruits, chalky and metalic. On the palate, the silky textural nature of the wine is very noticeable - there's some body and concentration here. The wine had medium plus acidity and there's no noticeable tannic grip. More strawberry note on the palate than the nose. Although it's dry, there is a sweetness to the mid palate and finish. Decent Length. Although I am not a lover of rose wine, I would happily drink this in the south of France on a warm evening with a plate of sole goujons.

Aug 12th, 2015Lovely. First quaff delivers ripe raspberries/cherries/strawberries. Some body that can only be described as mildly woodsy. Nose follows up that body with under-ripe red berries. Finish is quite long for a rose. Can stand up to lamb i think.
