2022 Laurent Martray Cote de Brouilly Les Feuillees - Love the nose. So much crumbly wet granite and earth, and deep dark cherry underneath. The palate is rich but a little loose-jointed, flavors lurching all over the mouth. Dark cherry and loads of clingy, stony minerals. A little bitterish note in the finish, together with decent acids, is perky. The tannins are a little scratchy but not unpleasantly so. This needs a couple of years to settle down but is energetic and fun right now too.

White pepper on vinegar soaked cherry (that might sound worse than it actually is), good acidity.

This went through stages of being outright tannic to being soft and fruit forward. Lots of development. Started out with hard saline and stony structure with just whiffs of fruit. After several hours the structure backs off and a beautiful voilet aroma stands out. Deep, dark fruit, spice, celery salt, and stones all mingling beautifully. An enigma of a Beaujolais.

Surprisingly good fruit and balanced tannins in 2024 for the 2018 vintage. Substantially better than when drunk two years earlier. $24.

Zippy acid, spiced with cloves and allspice. Almost a Szechuan spice to it. Fleshy back end rich barely ripe black fruit.

Perhaps my favorite Beaujolais appellation and vintage, this is a nice wine. Subdued cherry and earth on the nose. Pure and precise on the palate with very fine tannins and an earthy acidity that finishes quite refreshing. Nice.

Very nice Beaujolais from 2016, a year I quite like. Quite amazingly aromatic with light red berries and some good earthy notes. Silky smooth but still great acid and tannin where this finishes quite nicely.
