Upland Vineyard Grenache
Light bodied but big, round and jammy grenache. Bursting with red plum and ripe strawberry flavor and a hint of white pepper on the finish. The nose has hints of black tea and roses. Yum!

Jul 20th, 2018This is an intense Grenache. Intense aromas, with the fruity and the savory duking it out. Spicy cherry / raspberry extract and vaguely smoky, dark stony minerality. A certain salinity too. Intensely concentrated and clingy in the mouth, but not in a jammy or fruit-bomby way. Rather, the most intense savory rendition of Grenache fruit instantaneously attaches to all surface area of the mouth. Gets more savory and minerally as the long finish fades. Went great with rosemary and garlic grilled lamb chops. I am really becoming a believer in Washington State Rhône varietals.

Intense, sweet fruit flavors of black cherry, raspberry, and red licorice lead to a spicy, cinnamon finish of impressive length. Medium bodied with fine grained tannins and 14.7% alcohol. Made from 100% Grenache with 50% stem inclusion sourced from Upland Vineyard in the Snipes Mountain AVA then aged 22 months in neutral 500L puncheons. Winemaker and owner Andrew Latta, born and raised in Kentucky, has crafted a Wine Enthusiast top 100 wine of 2012. $40.
