Lamy & Caillat
Les Caillerets 1er Cru Chassagne Montrachet Chardonnay
Another 2016 white burg that has really come around. It notably gains in focus and precision in the decanter, in contrast to the vintage. There’s a killer combination of textural richness, concentration and yellow fruit intensity that’s seamlessly balanced by chiseled lemony acids, a refreshing sea spray-like salinity and a long chalky mineral inflicted finish. Sebastian Caillat is crushing it in Chassagne.

Jul 23rd, 2022Deep yellow color that’s very Raveneau-esque. It’s totally open for business with hardly any reduction. There is a great combination of textural richness, concentration and yellow fruit intensity that’s backed by a long mineral inflicted finish, zippy lemony acid and sea spray salinity. Excellent.

Jun 26th, 2021The 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets has a taut, much more backward bouquet than the La Romanée at the moment. The bouquet brings to mind a spring meadow, touches of grass clipping and wet limestone. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a killer line of acidity, perhaps just a notch more saline than the La Romanée with a marine-like, oyster shell tincture on the finish. Excellent. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2018)

One of the best i’ve ever drank. This has it all. Amazing length and depth. Hazelnut, flint, popcorn.

Sep 10th, 2024My 1st time with the producer showing lots of finesse, mineral, saline & floral notes in more of linear style which is surprising for the 15 vintage which I have found to be in a richer & riper style.

Feb 19th, 2021This bottle tasted much younger compared to a bottle some weeks ago. Needs a lot of air.
