I'm quite pleased with this Bourgogne Pinot Noir from a negociant branch of Jacques Prieur. It is made in a friendly style with good attempt to be perceived as more serious wine above its regional appellation. However, it lacks village identity. Previous vintages came from Maranges terroir, not sure about this one.
It is generously oaked. More of a cedar and muted red forest berries in dark chocolate. Not enough fruitiness to my palate. Light body, refreshing acidity and gentle grip of tannins, altogether make a good impression. Very well crafted Pinot Noir which has distinct Burgundian signature to it.
I would recommend it as a good buy. That's the invitation to a great portfolio of Domaine Jacques Prieur wines.
