Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend

It took 7 years but is has come around to become a nice summer red.

Classic lighter bodied left bank Bordeaux.

Lead pencil, black currants, spice and green pepper. Good acidity if a little green but in a good way.

Perfectly nice little cab. And pretty good bank for your Bordeaux-buck. Maybe lacks a little fruit intensity?...

Merlot dominates this blend but there is some Cabernet Sauvignon and some Cabernet Franc blended in. Medium ruby color with a slight clear meniscus. Fruit forward aromas and flavors of blackberry, black cherry, dark plum, baking spices and cedar. Medium-plus finish. Medium body and very silky tannins. Well balanced/layered acidity and a very silky texture. A bit more austere than a traditional Medoc red blend. At peak.

Good fruit, graphite, leather, tannins quick to the tongue. The only problem was the cork broke into 3 pieces with the wine key, tried an ah-so to extract the third piece stuck in the neck but pushed through into the bottle. Ran it through a screen and consumed. Paired with a prime rib & spuds.

Will buy again. It was very drinkable for a $33 bottle! Highly recommend!

Strong oak taste...

Much better after breathing. Medium bodied and slightly acidic. Could do with a bit more depth.
