Another 4th Friday for the books, and one of the best of the year!

Cola and candied brown sugar with kirsch and overripe red fruit. Some underbrush and cedar is here, but the sweet fruit is still taking center stage. That being said, time has been kind to this wine as it’s not as full throttle as expected. Drinking perfectly now.

Such an elegant wine - rich, red fruits, acidic and beautiful flavors.

Bright cherry, tobacco and leather, berry. Hint of smoke. Special dinner at home - filets, scalloped potatoes, asparagus. The wine and meal deserved one another.

Bright. High acidity. Onto the 2nd bottle. Much better. Bigger meatier. If you want Pinot sans Syrah.

Haven't opened yet, our second bottle, I am hoping for the same smooth refined flavor that we have come to expect from KB. Cheers!

Great cherry and plums - needed 3 hours open. Pork chop with cherry sauce at Oak Grill Island Hotel.

Black cherry, pine straw, vanilla, smoke, blackberry. Lovely large pinot, but could definitely benefit from another two+ years in bottle

Fruit is playing second fiddle to a sandalwood feature in this wine. I totally dig the sandalwood in the Rayas lineup but for some reason, I'm not goo goo ga ga for it in this KB. Don't be led astray, I like this wine, it's just that it's displaying a prominent dimension that I am not accustomed to in my KB's.
