Kongsgaard
The Fimasaurus Red Bordeaux Blend
Napa Valley, California, USA

‘12 in ‘26. This wine was gorgeous. Aged beautifully. Aromatics of pure elegance jumped from the glass. Med+ body and a mix of red and black fruit. Layered without being dense. Revealing something new with each sip. A memorable wine.

As @David L would say ”It’s a baby” 👶 not anywhere close to prime time. Definite hold.

Huge fruit, huge structure and (if possible) huge acidity for balance. I thought it was better from barrel, but it's still damn impressive. Wait a few more years though, is it needs to shed some of its toasty oak.

Oct 19th, 2015Very rich and deeply concentrated, especially for a 2011. Layers of blackberries, sweet cherries and cocoa. Very loooong!

A right bank blend from Kongsgaard. This is quite delicious. The merlot flavors and aromatics come through in particular. Lush texture. Serving suggestion: stand this up ahead of time as it sheds a lot of sediment.

Give this a good decant and serve with rich food. This still has a sturdy tannic presence but is rich and delicious.

This has a rich core of dark fruit. Like many 2013s from Napa, this is very structured and it could probably use a bit more time for the oak to further integrate.
