Sep 5th, 2017Velvety and succulent. Nose full of desert roses, persimmon, blackberry, and savory herbs. Velvety tannins carry gentle black pepper, blackberry compote, citrus oil, and kola nut. This reminds me of an Hermitage. This is a fine start to the weekend!

Found in cellar. Drinking the 2000 on Nov 10 2016. Aromas are briary, spicy and juicy....engaging. Fruit is gone on taste. Would have been awesome couple years ago.

The inky black with purple edged '00 Kongsgaard Syrah 'Hudson Vineyard' is a majestic effort that I decanted for several hours. I was amply rewarded with fragrant floral, blackberry, smoky creosote and gun flint aromas. Then a medley of dark fruit, white pepper, dark chocolate and espresso flavors came through. Powerful, yet elegant, with big velvety tannins and a juicy persistent finish. Really, really good!
