So good! Drank like a pinot more than a merlot. Light and fruity with red and slight blue fruits, coffee and bittersweet chocolate notes, great tannins and medium acidity.

06’ Kapcsandy Family. Roberta’s Reserve. State Line Vineyard.
About 100 cases made. 94% Merlot 6% CF. 💯 new French Oak.
Should of pull the cork earlier. Multiple layers of complexity. This would probably taste even better tomorrow morning. Easily another 10 years in it.

Full medium ruby. Alluring floral lift to the aromas of black cherry, dark plum, licorice, cocoa powder and minerals; showed a slightly exotic hint of liqueur-like ripeness with aeration, possibly due to a bit of late dehydration of the fruit. Wonderfully sweet and plush, with its blue and black fruit, bitter chocolate and licorice flavors enlivened by graphite minerality. The wine's slightly high-toned character just contributes to its personality. This began with big, dusty tannins but harmonized nicely with air and became smoother, finishing with outstanding juicy cut and length. Still, I find it a bit clenched next to the Cabernet Grand Vin. I should note that when I originally tasted this wine shortly after its bottling, I described it as "perhaps the single greatest Merlot-based wine I have ever tasted from California." So I would not be at all surprised if it merited a higher score with more time in the cellar. (100% new French oak) (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2020)

Healthy medium ruby. Pomerol-like aromas of redcurrant, iron, tobacco and mocha torrefaction. Wonderfully pliant, fleshy and full, showing less complexity in the early going than the 2010 version but more obvious sweetness to its berry, mineral and floral flavors. This big, ripe, seamless wine boasts excellent vinosity. The very long, rising finish features ripe, granular tannins and lingering notes of mocha, dried flowers and tobacco. I'd love to throw this into a blind tasting of 2009 Pomerols. (14.1% alcohol; all French oak, 90% new) (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, July 2019)

Happy Father’s Day! Wonderful pull by my father in law.

I’m a big fan of this winery as you don’t see them around very much. Such high quality with impeccable wine making. Slow ox for 1-2hrs. 95 merlot/5 CabFranc. Espresso and dark cocoa dusted black cherry, ripe blackberry and currant aromatics...intoxicating. So soft, yet ripe fruit, on the palate. Cherry swisher sweets, baked mixed berry figs, and still tart red and black fruit. Can’t believe how tart and ripe the fruit is even at 13yrs. Outstanding.

This is up there in my top 5 this year - this is shooting at me 0 to 60 in a Porsche GTO or 3 seconds but finishing like the tortoise against the hare - a winner and in slow motion - but nice and smooth and long - wait now I am confused - am I drinking wine or getting ready for sex / oh wait - never mind - different story - but this is badass is a glass as my friend @Martin G Rivard would say

All smiles tonight

06' Kapcsandy Roberta's Reserve State Lane. Deep Ruby red & so dark for a 10-year-old Merlot. With a little air, this wine explodes on your palate. Barnyard, slate, dried flowers, espresso on the nose. Blackberry, Black cherries , licorice, chocolate. Well structured tannins. Such a extraordinarily well made Merlot. You'll be reaching for the decanter, soon after your first sip! Certainly one of the very best California Merlot blends. Drinking now- 10 great years in it.

Better half-" Do we have anymore of this?"

One of the top Cali Merlots IMO. The vintage reminds me of Kid Rock. Didn’t make it until later in life.

One of the best wines I've ever had. Alex brought for Friendsgiving. Full-bodied, rich and whatever other adjectives you like to use for amazingly good wine.
