Kamen Estate Wines
Lava Block Moon Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon
The same clones, the same soil, yet totally different than the regular Kamen Cab. The lava block has more cooling Bay influence making this brighter and more direct. Fascinating study in #terroir

1 person found it helpfulJul 14th, 2015I really enjoyed this wine. By that I mean I finished it by myself in short order! Great nose that says come drink me. A fruit forward (black fruit abounds) massive effort with a fair amount of nuance. Soft tannins but a little light on the acid. Definitely aging well from relatively young vines.

Mar 4th, 2017Just a fantastic wine. Unfiltered and carries essence of the lava rocks. Rich, dark and explosive. Silky smooth. You must try it if you can find it!

Dec 24th, 2016Tasting Room pour. The Syrah and Estate Cab were excellent, but the designate Cabs were eye-opening. This one from a microclimate block composed mostly of volcanic basalt.

Sep 24th, 2016Dark rich color, medium body...balanced tannins with plum, raisin, berries, cocoa flavors that remain in tact for a long finish. Organic grapes perform well in this really good wine. 14.7% A.b.V.
