Interesting flavors on this Walla Walla Syrah. Savory black olive backed up by sage and leather notes are most prominent at first, before the luscious, brambley dark fruit starts showing up (think blackberries). As it opens, the fruit comes on stronger. This is fantastic Syrah.

Second bottle this week. Extraordinary. Vivid. Mouthwatering. Perfumed nose of campfire grilled meats, plum backed up with bramble fruit, freshly grated ginger, and toasted sesame oil. Structured, showing beautiful balance with sweet tannin and a long savory finish. This is the bottle that makes me happy that the wine drinking public still doesn't know Syrah or Washington. If they did, this wine would cost two to three times as much. Even elicited a "This IS good" from my father, the world's most unimpressed wine critic (shoulder shrug = 93 points).

Mind blown. Charles Smith has done it again. An avant-garde interpretation of Syrah. He takes the commonly found red meat component of Syrah and builds an Asian style around it. Plum, soy sauce, ginger, wasabi, and sweet seaweed. 你好
