This 8 year old Obtuse is officially close to the end of its drinking window, but I find it so delicious and vibrant, I think it could still go many years. Just a great desert wine, and this coming from the I am not a dessert wine at all guy. On the nose, this wine is incredible - bringing up childhood memories from collecting black berry, boysenberry, and red currant in the local woods in Northern Germany. Never quite had that experience with any other wine.

This is a Cabernet Sauvignon wine based, made in Port style I found the green bell pepper jam lifted by the ripe black sour cherry. Delicious!

Heavy, syrupy, more like cough syrup if on its own, smooths out a bit of paired with cheese or chocolate.

Nose: dark, dense berries, chocolate covered raisins and chocolate covered cherries. The alcohol pushes through a bit too (16%), as well as some decomposing wood and dark earth. Palette: sweetness hits the tongue first, but mellows into dark fruit and milk chocolate. Nice depth with a long finish.
