My birth year and the inaugural vintage of a classic California wine. This wine improved with about an hour and a half of oxygen.

The color on this wilne is not nearly as deep as it is on many high-end cabs. The nose has an oaky, black currant profile. On the palate, however, the oak is very restrained and the wine is supple and plush without being overbearing. The acidity is very good and the tannins are extremely fine, making it easy to sip. The fruit character is all dark berries and cassis with hints of chocolate in the finish. A fine Cab.

Such a classic! Well balanced classic body and structure for Alexander Valley. Open for 6+ hours the tannins have really softened and the fruit, earth and wood have opened up to integrate nicely on the palate. Can't go wrong with this producer unless there's a dismal vintage due to weather.

Those Jordan Cabs get me every time. So easily drinkable and velvety smooth. This one was no exception. Delicious. But I still do prefer the 2008 vintage.

If only more CA cabernets showed this sort of polished elegance and restraint. Youthful but eminently accessible. Savory, earthy notes dominate the red and black fruit, braced by subtle acids, a long clean finish, and a well integrated 13.8% abv. Drink now but good for five more years in the cellar, minimum. 12 years old and drinking much younger. Just a touch of garnet on the rim but otherwise still ruby in color. Bright fruit jumps out of the glass right away. Candied Blackberries, tobacco, green tea. Almost touches on bubble gum. It goes on to smell more on the dried fruit side after about 10 minutes of decanting but still holds up. (Cork broke so I had to decant. Anecdotally, not a ton of sediment, but some.) A very slight bell pepper note and well integrated. Palate says what the nose knows. Good acidity and bone dry. No RS here that I can detect. A modest body. Rather dry pomegranate in flavor at this point. Dusty yet modest tannins rounded out a solid, lasting, fruity finish. 13.5% alcohol.
