This was a Parker 93. Big wine, needed a little air and time to open. Predominantly Syrah, this exhibited massive black fruits, olive and some floral notes. Really came to life and a beauty with my double bone-in pork chop. My first Jonata.

Stemmy and green upon opening. The goods started showing about 30 minutes and a decant later. Plum and licorice aromas lead to rich black fruits, dark chocolate and graphite. A bit dry and still fairly hot on the finish. 15% ABV. 2012 vintage- wished I would have waited a few more years. Have a few bottles of 2014 that will wait a while until opening. Cheers to a quiet Friday night🤓

2010 vintage. Santa Ynez Valley AVA in Santa Barbara County. Blend of 10 different grape varieties. 78 % Syrah, 8% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Viognier, 1% Grenache, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot, 1% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Sémillon. Aged in 50% new French oak and 50% neutral French oak. Smells animal-like at first, but opens up spectacularly immediately after decanting. Intense nose of cassis, Provencal herbs and a touch of blackberry jam. Layers of dark fruit, excellent balancing acidity and a long spicy finish.
