Wow, unreal pure deep cherry fruit and a tiny dollop of Va that blows off in 20 junkies. Citrus concentrate as well. Unreal nose. So expressive. Just singing. Floral. Mineral. And that 2015 sunshine style fruit. Palate is pure., deep and juicy but is showing maybe 5% of what it can be. There are mineral/limestone dusty tannins. That are long and elegant along with a nice blast of fruit at the very very end. My score will go up as these morel reds need mega mega air to show as they should. I’ll be back.

The very rare St. Aubin Rouge 1er Cru “Les Frionnes” is beautiful wine. Gorgeous nose of sous-bois, sour cherry fruit, mint, some herbs and all in all seems to be a bit closed. But still soaring but can fly higher. Palate is silky and elegant with terrific power, high toned cherry fruit and great concentration. You taste the 15 sunshine but this also has serious backing structure. Lovely tannins and big acids ensure this has ages to go. Lovely long finish and just the right amount of rusticity.

Tried my last bottle - plenty of volatile acids aka various esters. Undrinkable. Compare this note also to my previous ones. For some reason I did get a bad batch. There has to be bottle variation because Lyles notes of the same vintage are so different. Or? the wine was messed up upon bottling and he tried from the cask?

Third time trying this. This has a hint of volatile acid/glue. This is because of Esters which form in the presence of acetic acid and alcohol usually already on/in the grapes a sign of poor vineyard management. It blows off to some extend and the wine tastes Ok. So keep it for 2-3 more years. Some folks might be less sensitive than others still I think the winemaker made a mistake.

Better this time around. See my last notes. Cherry and a ton of tannins. Hint of glue which blows off. Quite rough even 12 hours later. I think 🤔 I will revisit this 2-3 years from now. Still tastes somewhat like KambuCha. Must have included stems hence the herbaceous notes. Not really a good wine at this point of its life and I am not sure if this will change?

Really rough at first. Plenty of Bret. Tastes initially like KambuCha. A natural wine? Very chalky. There is cherry under there. Very rustic and difficult to drink right now. It will probably mellow out. At the moment just for serious wine 🤓’s.

Vibrant red cherries from first whiff. Fruit is very much alive while there is a cool earthiness and perhaps even iron. On the palate, dark cherries. Light medium body with some fleshiness. Medium acidity and finish.
