Jean Biecher & Fils
Sommerberg Alsace Grand Cru Riesling
Developing nicely after my last bottle 2 years ago. Golden Delicious apple fruit, hint of peach, and subtle petrolly minerality. Dry and flavorful, it’s got a pronounced but not unpleasant bitter component that kicks in midway through the palate. Decent acids.

Jul 10th, 2021Beautiful wine. Nose has ripe golden delicious apple fruit, and subtle dark minerality. Mouthfilling, extracted, almost tannic, but still retains some elegance. Dry. I would prefer a tad more acidity, but this was a good value so I’m not quibbling.

Jul 31st, 2019Sommerberg vineyard, not Schoenenberg. Nose is very fruit-driven: crisp golden delicious apple, a note of juicy peach. Plump and fruit-juicy in the mouth too. Feinherb- level off-dry. Not complex or minerally (zero petrol), but nice as an aperitif.
