Grotte di Sole Red Blend

Black cherry herbs Nielluccio is the variety ( from the French island of Corsica ) but I guess it’s a clone of Sangiovese which makes sense when you taste this wine you could easily put this in a blind with Italian Sangiovese

Local wine shop has me on this Corsican kick lately for which I am thankful. This wine is deep and intense with dark complexity and a moody dried fruits and herbs combo.

If I did this blind I’d say Sangiovese. Big tannin, rustic fruit, med acid.

Quite special. Brambly, but not rustic. Elegant, but not polished. Bright and dark red fruits. Depth and length, but balanced weight. Magically expresses all of Nielluccio’a elements. Approachable now and has the structure for ongoing aging.

First time trying Corsican! Fruity and spicy..delicious!

Deep red fruit at the front, with a green stemmy freshness. Fruit is fleshy, with a spicy texture and a floral edge. This is the brightest and freshest I’ve ever tasted this wine. Really exciting stuff for the future here.
