Dark red, turning to ruby and a hint of orange at the rim. Impressive nose with deep, slightly jammy blackberry and black cherry fruit, with delicate spices and a hint of lavender and thyme, intensifying with swirling. Full-bodied with loads of black fruits and spices, and balancing acidity that makes the high alcohol go unnoticed. Long, spicy finish with well-integrated tannin. This has the elegance of a good Cote -Rotie, but with a more upfront fruit character that makes it distinctively Californian. Very good value. 2006 vintage. 15% abv. 35 euro (about 39 $).

Had very low expectations after the last bottle had a dried out fork but this was a beautiful wine still holding its structure, tannins, and loads of fruit. Very well balanced and stood up to a hearty meal.

This is drinking extremely well after just a pop and pour. You can see on the side of the bottle that it’s thrown a ton of sediment. Still easily in the drinking window. Underrated winery.

Huge wine, lots of alcohol. Took 2 hours to open even at the ripe old age of 15. Turned out to be very good.

2002 Vintage. Not the fruit bomb it one was but now less fruit but tannins completely resolved and smooth. Last of my bottles and a wonderful experience through the years.

Classic Caldwell Vineyard Syrah that reminded me of Douglas' efforts with Jade Mtn. Tannins/wt on heavier end with nice aromatics

Definitely past its peak but still showing spicy peppery fruit and a menthol finish.
