Quite smooth and a hint jammy. The sweetness doesn't come at the expense of length or tannins. I'd be lying if I said I'm not enjoying it.

Although the wine is loaded with dark fruit the dark chocolate was extremely apparent to me. Smooth tannins. Early drinker. Medium to medium light body. A touch of new oak. Thinking American. Thinking soft beef with a balsamic reduction.

A deep garnet with thin edges. Plums, cedar, and a touch of spice on the nose. A lot, if not most, CA Merlot is seriously on the thin side and this is no different but what body is there is smooth and structured pretty well. The addition of Malbec gives it some unexpected character. On the palate, more plums to go with the vanilla, cloves, and cherries. No real length on the finish. There is honestly nothing wrong with this wine, in fact, it’s a bit charming.

I'm enjoying this wine with pot roast. This is the merlot that motivated me to explore this group more thoroughly. It really fits well with a lot of tastes in food.

It was much better aired out for 20 minutes but had an all around roundness to it.
