The story of Ironstone started with John Kautz, a young row crop farmer from Lodi who saw the future in growing wine grapes in Lodi. With 12 acres in 1948, John quickly built a reputation as a premium wine grape supplier, amassing over 5,000 acres in Lodi and the Sierra Foothills. A blend of 95% Zinfandel & 5% Petite Sirah, dark red with aromas of dark fruit and pungent spice. On the palate black pepper overwhelms the berry flavors. Medium finish, grainy tannins ending with bitter notes.

Oct 23rd, 2016Dark red with black fruit aromas and heavy spice notes. On the palate pepper spice takes center stage accompanied by blackberry and cherry flavors. The finish has grainy tannins and ends with bitter cacao notes. The reserve was better.
