Texas Tempranillo Cabernet
The curveball out of our 4 reds! This was red number three and at the end, 1,2 and 4 would all be bordeauxs. After 1 and 2, it was easy to identify this as more new world. I didn't guess Tempranillo, (I guessed old Napa cab), but appreciated a TX wine as there seems to be a step up in TX quality over the last few years. Spicy, plum filled, and well integrated at this point.

Jan 4th, 2015Eases you in with some delicious sweet cherry-cranberry flavors, leather, and ends with cedar-y tannins from the Cab. Unique but not my favorite of the lineup.

Nov 23rd, 2020I don't really think I gave this wine much of a chance, and I'm really not sure why. Rockstar winemaker Dan Gatlin has created a very nice wine. The nose is a lot of boysenberry and black cherry. Very raucous and earthy. Entry has a hint of that typical Texas tart terroir, but settles down very nicely. Sweeter red and black fruits give way to a fig and plum. the finish on this wine is exactly what this needs to go with a variety of fare: cheeses, meats, sauces and dips, BBQ. I don't know if I would hold this one too much longer, as to me the significant impression is made in the first two thirds of this wine, which will probably not improve with more bottle aging.

Apr 24th, 2019I’ve never thought a wine was salty before tonight. I wish I still hadn’t. After the initial wave of salt passes there’s some nice fruit. But the salt. 🤦🏻♂️
