This 10 year old Brunello is wonderful. Showing black fruits with earth, tobacco, tar, black tea, peppercorn, leather, oak, vanilla and licorice.

Great nose and a great mouthfeel with big tannins.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly. Peaking now.

Showing great complexity and balance with nice elegance. Just delicious.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$70.

This is a very strong wine and pairs well with steak. Not for the faint at heart.

Il Patrizio Brunello 2009 $65. I’m a big Brunello fan but mixed on this one. ‘09 was a challenging year and there are some good ones out there. I was able to taste this and did not have that unique character I’m looking for. Red fruit aromas, dried cherry flavors, pithy citrus notes and earthy tones. Gripping tannins, a bit acidic on medium finish. Not worth $65 price tag. Pass, more out there better at lower prices.

In a wonderful space now. Cherry juice, mushrooms, and anise. Why I fell in like with Brunello
