This past Wednesday I opened the 2016 Hourglass III Red Blend. From Calastoga Napa, California. A blend of 48% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Petit Sirah.
On the nose there was black cherry, blackberry, pomegranate, bkack currant, chocolate and vanilla.
On the palate there was black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, mocha, spice, cassis, clove and forest floor
This wine is medium to full bodied with a velvety smooth mouthfeel medium+ acidity medium+ smooth round tannins that move wonderfully into a long black fruit dark soil finish. This was enjoyed with close life long friends and everyone commented how they enjoyed it. Have a great week ahead and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

12’ Hourglass HGIII Dence richness to it. 1st vintage- Merlot /Cab/ Melbec . All upfront fruits. Ripe black cherry, powdered coco, tobacco. Very little length on the back of the palate. Nice acidity. Good bottle. Edit- Tasting much better then a year ago. That’s strange… I was told this is a wine that drinks in it’s youth? Guessing six years old is still young.

12' Hourglass HG III. Blend of Merlot/ CB / Malbec .
I originally tried this a few years back. Thought it needed a bit more time in the bottle. The nose ! To much of a good thing.
A bit of a mess. Overall 🙂.

Wish I took notes when we opened it but I forgot. I just remember dark fruits and big, which is exactly what I was craving. This bottle was jared’s first drink of alcohol after his month long challenge and it did not disappoint. I adored it. Let’s do this again sometime.

HWT - $42 or $47 - delicious and paired nicely with fancy pizzas. Would def get of on sale for $30 or less - not as bold as earthquake
