Just one of the best domestic Syrahs and still reasonably priced.

2013 Herman Story Syrah White Hawk
Dark purple in color. Medium + bodied.
What a nose -comes off prosciutto, lavender, spice black jam.
Screaming blackberries, ground pepper, gaminess. Silky tannins, light acidity & a great finish. What’s not to love.
Very close to a PNP...let it open up in your glass for a short bit of time.
Wouldn’t wait more than a few years to drink these up. IMHO

Impromptu meet up at Classic! Having a relaxing Friday afternoon with good friends and good wine makes for a perfect start to a weekend!

This was my contribution. Killer nose. Reminds me of Lillian’s Syrah, which is pulling from the same vineyard. Black pepper, grilled blackberries and teriyaki beef jerky. Spicy front palate with peppercorn. Mid palate brought along more rhubarb tart and cedar. Tight and tannic finish. First experience with HS and my thoughts are these wines are made in a style like Bevan’s cabs...Rhône style wines that are just fantastic young. Many thanks
@TheSkip for the intro to Hermann Story after knowing my curiosity of them!

The 2012 White Hawk showed incredible intensity, yet remained balanced and graceful throughout, showing a unrelenting bouquet of black cherry, baked plums, violette floral tones, cola, smoke, crushed stone and spice cake. On the palate, it was silky with sweet, spiced dark fruits, cherry sauce, and licorice. It literally saturated the senses without showing a hint of its 15.4% alc. The finish went on and on with dark fruit, spice, and purple floral tones. This is full throttle yet refined and layered—color me impressed.

I really enjoy the older vintages from Herman Story (circa 2009-2010). With a few years of aging, super smooth.

Always one of my 'go to' wines when I chargrill a fat steak, the '10 Herman Story Syrah 'White Hawk Vineyard' never disappoints. A brooding dark ruby, this fruit forward blockbuster teases the senses with lush blackberry, roasted meat and dark chocolate aromas. Viscous texture and bracing minerality excite the tastebuds. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins preceding the extended finish.
