With #thetcwineclub I love to choose wines which I too haven’t yet discovered and find of interest. This Dry Riesling from Helm in Tumbarumba stood out to me because I don’t believe I’ve tried wines from the Canberra region before, we’ll not that I remember! Helm is run by a father & daughter team with Germany ancestry. Their ancestors traveled to Aussie in 1860s and brought with them their love of Riesling which is still a huge focus today for Helm.
We matched this beauty with International Dumpling Day last week and it went beautiful with the dumpling dough to the spicy chilli vinegar and Asian plum sauce. Brilliant match!
The wine on the eye is a pale yellow with slight green tint. The nose is full of fresh apples, pears, honeydew melon 🍈 and blossoms. In the mouth it has a lovely juicy texture with hints of apple 🍎 and lemon juice. Divine!

Tropical and citrus fruits, clean and lifted. I thought it lacked the precision of the locally grown fruit but still a good drop.

Oct 13th, 2015Pale straw colour. Lifted with tropical fruits, lime, flowers and minerality. Clean and crisp citrus acids with green apple and grapefruit on the palate. Long dry finish. Very good.
