OMG this bottle gave new meaning to the minty characteristics this wine is known for. Perfect bottle and truly a worthy contender against any first growth. Refined, structured, and elegant. Find one, drink it.

Wow..had this wine a few times now...deep purple still...some leather, tobacco, mod tannins, and great acid still holding together. Blackcherry. This could easily go another 10 years...

Part 1 of the final and main event for the Fall WNH. The most spectacular lineup of wines I’ve ever seen, and an overall wonderful ending to an amazing trip with fantastic people.

One of my contributions. I think I surprised myself at claiming it needed 30-45mins of air as well as needing to be brought down from room temp to closer to cellar temp. This is a gorgeous wine, and a wonderful creation from the Heitz team. Underripe black fruit and plum on the nose, giving way to an herbal/earthy blackberry pie note. Seamless and well balanced on the palate showing red and black fruit, dark cocoa dusted bay leaf and older fig. A touch of their signature eucalyptus on the finish. Many years to go.

Special night at the ghost table at Muriel’s in New Orleans French Quarter. Dark cassis fruit, loads of viscosity and depth, rather than the usual eucalyptus I identified bay leaf, a pine quality and menthol.

Not as good as past bottles, but still a beautiful wine.

The last time I had one of these was at a Wine Nerd Heard event when we side a vertical tasting of the 70,74 & 85. The 05 was so good that we killed 2 bottles πŸ™ŒπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™Œ
