Heirloom Vineyards
Adelaide Hills Chardonnay
“Wine comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye;
That’s all we shall know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and I sigh.” - WB Yeates 1910
This is the poem that adorns the back label of the Heirloom Vineyard wine bottles. And inside you will find bottled poetry 🥰
Thank you Heirloom for sending us this sample of your 2019 Chardonnay to taste. Both Mr Spittoon and I are hardcore Chardonnay lovers, so it’s safe to say we didn’t waste a drop.
So what makes this Heirloom Chardonnay special?
🥂 It’s made from Adelaide Hills fruit in South Australia
🥂 It’s won numerous awards including being awarded 92 points at the Melbourne International Wine Competition in 2020
🥂 85% of the wine was stored in French oak barriques (30% new) for 12 months before release to add body, texture and complexity
🥂It retails for $30 and is available via heirloomvineyards.com.au (plus if you sign up to their newsletter currently you can get a $75 voucher 🤩)
Here are my notes on it:
It’s an alluring yellow diamond 💎💛shade in the glass. On the nose it’s mouth-wateringly creamy with a sprinkle of baking spice, a whiff of freshly cut wood and some beautiful notes of just picked peaches, nectarines and apricots. In the mouth it has juicy citrus up front with a creamy custard like mid palate and a mouth puckering deliciously drawn-out finish. Yum 😋
This #wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Eye wateringly acidic and extremely sharp. I wasn't expecting anything buttery, but Holy Hell. I think if you like that sort of sharpness you will like this one. I can't forsee any circumstances where I would buy it again, even if my sinuses were blocked.
