Havens Wine Cellars
Napa Valley Merlot

Still a very nice drink, now with some lovely earth and cedar. Subtle by contemporary standards . . . thankfully

Jan 20th, 2016Thinner body but nice flavor. Plum and blackberry. Light earthiness. Tighter finish.

Not as good as a previous bottle. This one lacked a bit of body and verve, although the bouquet and taste were nice.

Sep 6th, 2017Good structure and finish, but not particularly expressive beyond subtle notes of plum, mocha, and earthiness.

Delicious and smooth but with depth. A nice Merlot that pairs well with strip steak. Discounted and another 15% volume at NH State made it $17. As good as it gets at that price and worthy of Saturday dinner.

Oct 1st, 2016This is our anniversary year and we tried to make it work, we really did. We paid a corkage fee for it at the restaurant, let it breathe, hoped and hoped and although psychologically we thought it was getting better it really just got worse. Band aids comment below was spot on. Maybe some flexible pvc piping, fermented blueberries, soggy diaper, who knows, it was really bad. Nose and taste. I think it just went bad. The cork was soaked through a bit and a bit grimey and deteriorated so we figured something was up. :(
