Another cellar experiment of ours. This is showing very well at this stage in its evolution. A hazelnut, nutmeg, brine-like nose gives way to a medium bodied, full-throttle palate. Dense and opulent, this is fruit-forward with pineapples and nectarines. Excellent now, and will stay this way for at least another 3 years, easily.
I was discussing with my wife how I’ve decided to return to my moderate wine roots. I’ve grown weary of spending a “kings ransom” on bottles, and for what exactly?
Ultra expensive wines are becoming like fritterware software, which draws in people like us, with a very disproportionately low gain in tasting experience, relative to cost. This cost me $25 a few years back, and I’ve now decided to drink more frugally. Yes, I have a few “trophy” bottles to get thru, but I’m not wasting any more of my hard-earned on penis extensions.
What are your views in this space (and I don’t mean views on PE’s).

It explodes from the glass with gregarious allspice and nutmeg notions over a core of warm peaches, guava, and pear tart with suggestions of gingerbread and toast. Medium-bodied, the palate is much more elegant and restrained than the nose suggests, delivering seriously minerally notes and loads of freshness, finishing long and chalky.

From a vineyard wayyyyy out there on the coast this is about as cold and fogged in of a climate as you’re gonna get. That brings loads of stonefruit and citrus to this wine which is balanced by a creamy texture which sails on into the finish. Awesome example of chardonnay from the “true” Sonoma Coast.

This wine continues to improve each time I open a bottle and unfurls in the glass. Has profound concentration and finesse-explosive toasted oak rich and full bodied yet the fruit is overt. Hazelnut, honey and a chunk of minerals. Pear and cream notes on the backside. Wonderful wine, reminds me of a great Premiere Cru of Burgundy.

WNH event number 3...new world Pinot. Such a treat to experience the many different variations of Pinot!

The second of two white wines to get us started from
@Shawn R . After seeing the scores that this has received I’ve been curious to try...for the price, I’m impressed. Lemon tart, stone fruit and mango on the nose with a rich palate...not quite reductive...poached pear honeyed cashews.

Not sure it lives up to the 100 points giving, but it certainly delivers. Really well balanced with just enough acid to give it nice body. Drink now.

The DL reference point for whites is @David L, so I’m very interested to hear his thoughts on this excellent example.
I compared it to the Aubert UV-SL (2014) that David brought to the mini WNH pizza gathering - which was spellbinding. From memory, I rated that 97. This is no UV-SL, but it gets damn close. It’s truly stunning with a nose of almonds, brioche and marzipan. The mouthfeel is dense, and exudes a near oily viscosity. Notes on the palate are consistent with the nose, although wifey detects ripe peaches. The oak is in the background and supports the components extremely well. Finishes with balance, grace and sweetness. For $65, this is a “fill yer boots” opportunity..

15’ Hartford Far Coast Chardonnay. Medium -bodied. Tangerine, pear, mango. A tropical slice of heaven. Just a touch of honey, light oak/acidity. Beautifully balanced. Drink them up in the next few years. Edit- There is no need to wait… Drink them if you have them. They will not get any better! Jeb & Parker 💯 points.

Opulent. Gauva, pineapple, nectarine, honeydew, and mango. Delicious.
