Hahn Winery
SLH Santa Lucia Highlands Estate Grown Pinot Noir
Founder Nicky Hahn, grew up speaking German. In his native language, the word ‘Hahn’ means rooster, which is why a depiction of this bird has always graced the label of his wines. Aromas of dark berry fruits with sweet dried spice notes. On the palate cherry and blueberry with oaky notes, cacao and sweet spice. Fine grippy tannins, savory, lingering ending with fruit and mineral tones. Nice value!

Dec 16th, 2020We had the 2016 Vintage on 8/13-14/20. This is a very good Pinot Noir from SLH. A different taste from Sonoma or Oregon. A little heavier and darker. Nice tastes of black cherry, cocoa, plum and spice. There was dark fruit and cardomom on the bouquet. A smooth mouth feel and good finish to a medium bodied wine. An excellent value.

Aug 15th, 2020This I was equally excited to stumble across. It’s surprisingly hard to find. I got lucky with the 2014 but never found the 2015. Unlike The Calling, this was amazing. Generous cherry fruit and earl grey tea flavors, with a long, lovely herbaceous finish. One of the best, if not the best, sub-$20 Pinots I’ve had. Stock up.

Oct 27th, 2019I haven’t enjoyed a $20 Pinot this much since Calera coastal (back when it was $20)
I love the style. Looks like I need explore SLH pinots a bit more...

Very nice and smooth. Cherries, apricots , chocolate. Especially rich chocolate on the finish.

Apr 14th, 2019We had this on 3/17-18/19. Silky texture. Tastes of black cherry, plum, spice and cardomom. Medium bodied wine but fuller than one from Sonoma or Oregon. Better than expected.
