My friend’s grocery store environment could have been part of the issue, but this is a recent vintage. Bottom line: spend $3-5 more on a Cote du Rhône.

Big aromatic nose of stewed fruit and spice. Tons of spice and mulled fruit on the palate. Medium plus tannins, high alcohol, and high acid.

Super smokey! That's all you can taste! Different but would have to be paid carefully. Don't think I could drink it stand alone
