Crianza Ribera del Duero Tempranillo Blend

Serious bruiser. Lush blackberry fruit, juicy and downright overpowering at times. Tannic and brooding, needs the love of a slightly bloody burger.

What does Peter Sisseck make when he's not making $1000 bottles of Pingus? This wine. Extraordinarily complex and continuously evolving. Plum and blueberry compote, olive tapenade, stewed tomato, cocoa powder, campfire smoke, anise, and soy sauce with secondary damp earth, crushed flower petal, and cedar. The acid/tannin/sweetness balance elevates this well above its fellow Ribera del Duero Crianzas.

A blend of 80% Tinto Fino, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot and aged for 17 months in French oak (30% new). Deep bright red with ripe sweet berry fruits aromas and earthy mineral notes. On the palate fresh ripe cherry, strawberry and blueberry flavors with fine smooth tannins with hints of light spice. The finish lingers ending with some oak and smoke tones. Drinks well now, but needs some time to tone down the ripe fruit!

First day, black fruit, leather, some spice, oak present but not overt with american oak (crianza level), very nice balance, quite earth driven...2nd day..flat cola. Little disappointed, fell apart...drink when open....

Aromas and flavors dominated by American oak.

B.I.G,.....maybe a little too big. Maybe age will show off its Ribera attributes hidden in all that fruit and oak.

Ho! Amaze-balls. New worldy... Typical style but sublimely delicious. Depth and balance.

Showing better 2nd say than 1st? Perhaps. Beautiful balance, would love to try this with another 5-10 years aging. #riberadelduero
