Phénix Fleurie Gamay

Bringing a smile to your face, this youthful Gamay is perfumed with red and white cherry, rose petal, violet, and red rocks, a hint of mousiness, then delivers a crunchy palate of red cherry, red plum skin, white raspberry, candied red fruit, and that granitic chalky character so typical of low intervention wines. Crowd-pleasing and a lovely pairing with wagyu beef

Bright cherry and iris and granite. If I'm honest, the Brett has crept just past the line of interesting supporting role and is starting to upstage the main players. I mean, this isn't horse poopy across the room, but it does distract me from the purity of the fruit and the energy at the core of this bottle. YMMV depending on where your palate is on the Brett spectrum.

Very pretty Gamay. Cherry with a core of pine and herbs.

Fantastic high toned cherry and gooseberry fruit, super pure, rich floral aromatics, herbs, ripe tannins, and subtle minerality. My first exposure to this producer and I’ll definitely be back!
