This is actually the reserve which is aged in barrel longer. Stunning wine. Nose is super mineral and white cherries. Also iodine and white pepper. Some juicy peach and tangelo. Gorgeous. Palate is rich and energetic with outrageous complexity and elegance. Wow the sweet white cherries and apricots are decadent but this is linear and straight and so focused. Stunning. What a finish. These wines demand age. Will go to 9.7 and 9.8 with air.

Apr 16th, 2024Nose has the classic porphyry aromas and are just wonderful. It’s so expressive. Such mineral precision. Insane clarity of wet stone aromas. Nose is a bit quiet as well as it’s too cold. Palate is hauntingly elegant with unreal rockiness and sappy minerality. Not much fruit right now but the underlying architecture is perfect. Stunning purity. This is a rock star. Literally. What intense minerality on the finish but so so elegant. Just stunning. Some apricot now on the nose. Crystalline purity and just so well made and everything in its place. A stunner.

Aug 25th, 2022Killer killer nose. White cherry Nahe love. Apricot, peach, spice, lanolin, vanilla extract. So pretty. So ebullient. Very open aromas. Herbs. Very complex. Very serene. Wonderful peach skin. Palate is massive, complex, tangy, refined and young with massive fruit skin and fruit pith flavors. Amazing purity and balance. Ripe but perfect freshness and minerality offset it. As it airs the minerality becomes more aromatically pungent. Really delicate but now also super mineral and saline. That sweet type of saline. Really long and delineated. Lovely structured finish. Really really long. Terrific. Really top level finesse with air and a terrific crystalline saline structure. Salty and long. Nose gets more pluot. As it airs slightly confectionary.

Vinous ate my day one note. Wine was good but confused.
Day 2 is much better.
Nose has integrated richness. Potent perfume. Some light white flowers as well.
Palate is rich but not particularly fruity. More meursaulty. Some minerals.

More finesse & elegance bs the Rotenberg, yet with the same power hidden inside. Incredible precision, great balance - a touch more spice and a mineral streak piercing the wine. Beautiful.
