Gusbourne
Brut Reserve English Sparkling White Blend
Appledore, Kent, England

Rich lemon yellow color and loads of citrus on nose and palate. There is a lively richness to the texture that offsets the high acidity. Green apple, lemon, hawthorn and acacia. Very refreshing. Very active mouse - maybe not quite enough time in cellar to force the bubbles smaller for creamier texture but delightful. Uses all three major Champagne grapes - it has Champagne fruit but not quite the minerality

Full of acidity, bright Meyer lemon fruit and pith, very clean style, drank as a beverage, could of used some food for sure. Fun bottle.

Jan 11th, 2018@Delectable Wine this is the 2013 Reserve. It was not in the database. This is a nice English sparkler. Very fruit forward with younger yellow fruit. Nice bubbles. Did not appear to be too small or big in the glass. Peaches, mango, melon. Kind of herbal towards the finish. Steered away from the tropical side. Really nice and balanced. Wondering if the 89 rating is stigma driven (hint: it is). This is right in line to Champagne offerings that are a 91-92 without thinking twice. This one didn't take long to disappear. Wish I had a couple more of these, but no such luck.

Very enjoyable, well made sparkling wine with ample acidity and citrussy aromas, albeit a bit short on the palate. Good stuff, but is it worth the hype and the price? I’m not sure.

Jan 6th, 2019Nice English sparkling wine but lacking the champagne challenging attributes of some of its countrymen.
