Very deep crimson in colour. More cassis than tomato bush - throw in some mint and liquorice. Medium to full bodied yet with great intensity in this excellent Clare Valley Cabernet: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc. Thankfully (IMO) no overt Clare Valley menthol (like Wendouree can be). Palate has lovely black currant flavours with fine persistent tannins. Jeffrey Grosset is better known for his award winning Rieslings but has made a beauty with this Cabernet. Has the fortitude to go another 10 years if so desired.

Simply delicious with beef tongue tonight. Somewhere between the Right Bank & Clare Valley. Impossible to identify in a blind tasting.

First experience with the red from Grosset. Gorgeous wine but still a baby. More like BDX than it is like Grange.

Really enjoyed this. 2009. 75 Cab. 25 Franc. Mid weight, fine balance between tannins, fruit and acid. Lovely cab. Perfect with food. Dark fruits but not unctuous. Beautiful.

2010 vintage. Grosset better known for their brilliant Rieslings have made a very good Bordeaux blend here. Lovely nose with a bouquet of violets and wild flowers. A sweet not herbaceous palate. Nota hint of menthol - often a Clare Valley trademark. Fine persistent tannins.
