Vallée d'Aoste Gamay
Valle d'Aosta, Italy

Lovely gamay from Italy. Fruit forward, wild berries, with acidity kicking in on the finish.

One of the most bizarre wines I have tasted recently. We tried it blind and I could have swore it was pinotage with this blackberry, smokey, bacon and tabacco. The palate had some weird acidity and fuller body than most Gamay. #weird

Jan 11th, 2015Definitely requires a bit of a decant to eliminate some of the reductive aromas, but after that, wow, further confirmation that this estate is consistently my favorite producer in the region. This will hold up to some aging too, I reckon. Going to put some away.
