Estate Grown Napa Valley Zinfandel

Taste a little dry in the beginning. Smooth afterwards.

Really nice approachable Zin not overly extracted but just nice juice.

Low acid, medium astringency, & medium plus alcohol impart this Napa Zin with a flavorful but refined drinkability.

Really close to giving this a 9. But it's flat on the finish. The pepper is mellow, really nice balanced nose. Nice body and mouth feel.

Polished and peppery, this Zinfandel is full of blackberry and spice.

Surprisingly peppery and gamey. Very Syrah like.

A serviceable wine for dinner.

Very nice Napa cab. Opened up beautifully throughout the evening.

Elegant and restrained, with juicy raspberry and cherry flavors puncuated by aromas of pepper, vanilla, lanolin, and wet slate. Atypical of most Zinfandels, the alcohol may be lower than the stated 14.5% abv (which suits me just fine), and probably makes sense, considering the vintage. Well-balanced, long, and with a pleasant softness in texture. Food friendly, too, it paired very well with a spicy Thai style red curry.
