Gran Moraine
Estate Reserve Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir

Gran Moraine takes its name from cataclysmic floods that occurred in the northern Willamette Valley during the last ice age. Aged in 40% new oak, aromas of red very fruits, floral and black pepper notes. On the palate blackberry and ripe strawberry flavors with cola, tea and earthy notes. Soft tannins, silky texture, long ending with berry fruits and floral notes. Very nice.

And now for a Pinot I actually mean to give a high rating! I had to make up for the (now deleted) Pinot from yesterday. This wine everything I could desire right now. It is rich and light at the same moment. It’s so many blackberries and raspberries and strawberries macerated with cinnamon. Then this caramel current lingers. And someone maybe waved a piece of arugula in the vicinity. Seriously there is this note of lettuce dressed in lemon in this wine. But also kinda like a lemon drop candy. Lovely to sip with a book but it would pair well with company too. And some roasted mushrooms seem like they’d be good too but maybe I’m just craving the mushrooms I ate at Craft a couple of weeks ago...

Great depth and balance. Lovely medium ruby color, forward on the nose and very elegant.

Mar 13th, 2016Surprising. 2011 was good. 2012 being a great year I was expecting something enjoyable. Yet a good example of: sticking stubbornly to parameters, can mess everything.
