Time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

Pretty color of dark ruby with medium plus intensity and a wide brick rim.

Great nose of blueberries, cherries, licorice, light wood, earth, wet leaves, peppercorn, bitter herbs, spices, vegetables, black tea and violets.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Soft and smooth.

Dry on the palate with tart cranberries, cherries, raspberries, light wood, earth, wet leaves, bitter vegetables, Mediterranean spices, herbs and light chocolates.

Short finish with no tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is an interesting Merlot from Washington State.

This 7 year old is past its peak, but it's still drinkable. Really nice nose, though, that I kept smelling on. Nose is better than the palate.

Feels like an Italian wine, to put it in prospective. Not what I expected from a Washington Merlot.

A good pizza wine, actually. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses, which was phenomenal.

Aged in French and American oak barrels.

13.7% alcohol by volume.

87 Points.

$20.

Was able to get a taste of this Merlot. Simple enjoyable wine with typical Merlot fruit and spice nose carrying to the palate. Medium finish, firm tannins ending with slight sweet notes. Good value.

Nose: baked berries, fig raisin, violets. Slight licorice and green. Taste: tart cherries and acid upfront, med body black cherry, and vanilla (pretty oaky) lingers for about 8 sec.

This merlot was really amazing! Had a great nose and an awesome finish. Subtle hints of mint and sandalwood in the nose. Great finish!

Solid, stayed that way for 3 days. It's my favorite of the lineup.

This is a different vintage than the other one I tried. Still smells pretty smoky and has lots of cigar in the flavor profile too. It’s good, not as spectacular as the 2015 though. I have found these for a great price at Grocery Outlet. Read they had some financial trouble. Hope they survive that and keep making good quality WA wines.

Pretty boring label guys. Farmer designed label. Lovely deep rose petal color. Smells of red-black berries, petrichor, and nice flower soap. Flavor is explosive classic Merlot. Granite, blackberries, cherries and bittering herbs. Streak of licorice and liquor. This would go with red meats like nobodies business.
